PRASAD S. GARIMELLA M.D.

Dr. Prasad Garimella is originally from Atmakur, India. He graduated with honors from Kurnool Medical College, subsequently completing his residency in Internal Medicine at Weiss Memorial Hospital, University of Chicago. He earned his fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine from Cook County Hospital and his fellowship in Sleep Medicine from Rush University Hospital, Chicago. Since 2004, Dr. Prasad Garimella has been part of Gwinnett Pulmonary Group, providing comprehensive and compassionate care to patients. He is Board Certified in Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine and Sleep Medicine and is a fellow of American College of Chest Physicians and American Association of Sleep Medicine. He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at Georgia Campus of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is also currently serving as the Chief of Department of Medicine, at Gwinnett Hospital System. Dr. Garimella is well respected amongst his peers as an outstanding clinician in Critical Care, as well as outpatient setting. He specializes in diagnosing and treating patients with Lung Cancer, COPD, Asthma and Sleep Apnea. He has particular expertise in Electro Navigational Bronchoscopy and Endobronchial Ultrasound Bronchoscopy. When not busy with his patients, Dr. Garimella enjoys biking, Taek won Do and spending time with family. He earned his black belt in Taek won Do and enjoys mountain climbing and he climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt. Rainier in 2010. When asked “What do you want people to understand about the way you practice medicine?" he replies with his motto "Fundamental principle of Medicine is Love".
